Mashatu Tented Camp
Join me for an unforgettable 5 day wildlife photography adventure in Botswana from 16-20 February 2028. We’ll spend four nights at the incredible Mashatu Tented Camp, where the rich wildlife and breathtaking landscapes provide endless photographic opportunities. This all-inclusive experience covers accommodation, meals, park fees, and expert photographic guidance. Everything you need except your flights to and from OR Tambo International Airport.
Mashatu in the Green Season
Colour, atmosphere and possibility...
Yellow flowers can bring a burst of colour to the bush, while green vegetation gives the landscape a
completely different feel. Storms add another layer. Sometimes it’s a dark sky behind an animal;
sometimes it’s a brief opening of light that makes a scene come alive.
Those conditions give us plenty to work with, but they also ask us to stay flexible. We’ll look for clean
backgrounds in the greenery, use colour deliberately and pay attention to how an approaching storm
changes the mood of a photograph.
Wildlife and weather will always make their own plans. That’s part of the excitement. The aim is to
recognize what a scene offers and make thoughtful decisions while it’s unfolding.
Daily Program
DAY 1 | SHUTTLE & ARRIVAL
Shuttle from OR Tambo airport in Johannesburg. Border crossing into Botswana and shuttle to camp, meet the group and your two photo guides, and get ready for our first time in the field.
DAYS 2–4 | PHOTOGRAPH MASHATU
We’ll head out in our two private photographic vehicles, following the light, wildlife and changing conditions. Between outings, there will be time for editing, image discussions and sessions at the camp’s watering-hole hide.
DAY 5 | PHOTOGRAPHY & DEPARTURE
One last chance to photograph the bush before we wrap up the workshop and begin our journeys home.
The exact rhythm of each day will respond to conditions. If a storm is building or a sighting deserves more time, we can adjust.
